|Event Date:||October 29, 2018|
We apologize for the late announcement of this workshop, and for it being the same day as another minister’s event. We are actively working on getting these training sessions offered more often throughout the year, so if you are unable to attend this one, there will be another offered very soon.
ANTI-RACISM / PRO-RECONCILIATION TRAINING
This workshop is designed for new and current ministers wishing to gain standing with the Christian Church in Ohio. United Church of Christ Ministers are also welcome to attend for their denominational requirements.
Anti-racism training, required in order to obtain and maintain standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ohio. Attendees gather for a day of training in which they learn basic definitions of racism, prejudice, and discrimination, watch videos that demonstrate the damage done by systemic and person racism, and shared stories based on their experience. Part of the training includes filling a timeline called the Wall of History in which participants write down instances of racism and resistance, beginning with colonial America and concluding in the present day. The day of training begins with prayer and Bible study and concludes with worship and prayer.
This workshop is required by the Commission on the Ministry for the Christian Church in Ohio. For maintenance of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Ministerial Standing, this training must be completed every five (5) years. (See the Policies and Criteria for the Order of Ministry for more information.)
